Weekend Video

I've always had a soft spot for stop-motion videos and this is definitely one of my favorites.

Have a great weekend!

cupcake break

There's nothing like an unsuspecting, kind gesture from a co-worker!

This little cupcake definitely made the rest of my work day much, much sweeter :)

Temptation of the Week

Ever since the July Anthropologie catalogue arrived in my mail box I've been head over heels for the outfit on the cover. That shirt, those jeans, those shoes!
Maybe eventually everything will go on sale? A girl can dream...

Doesn't the model kind of remind you of Julie Delpy? Love her.

The Office

The first time I watched the American The Office was after Hurricane Ike hit Houston. My neighborhood was lucky and didn't have a lot of damage but the rest of the city was pretty much a snorefest so I bought the first 4 seasons in a package deal and spent a week pretty much doing nothing but watching Jim and Pam flirt. And I loved every second.

Now on the cusp of the 8th season, the show still makes me laugh but it isn't really the same any more, it's sparks instead of fireworks. I am excited to see how the show will do with a new regional manager for Scranton and who that will be! This video is definitely worth the watch :)

50/50

Last night I had the chance to see 50/50, the new movie starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen. My friend Tina always makes fun of me cause I can never remember if it's Gordon-Levitt or Levitt-Gordon. She thinks someone who likes JGL as much as I do, should know his name properly.

LACMA did a special screening of the movie including a Q&A with JGL, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick (love her!), and the screenwriter Will Reiser. It had all the makings of a great movie: heartbreak, humour, passion and shenanigans! My mind was blown when I realized the girl who plays JGL's girlfriend in the movie not only plays the mean girl in The Help, she's also Ron Howard's daughter!

New Girl

Fox just released the pilot of New Girl on iTunes for free! Of course I downloaded it, popped some popcorn and watched it as soon as it was ready. I've been excited about this show since the first time I heard about it and I thought it was great! After watching the show's trailer about a hundred times, everything in the trailer wasn't as fun in the actual show but it had a lot of surprises in there. I also loved all of Zooey's outfits (minus the overalls).

P.S. My favorite preview clip.

Adele

I'm super late on the Adele train, I know. I've always known I'll love her, I just haven't gotten around to discovering it. But her performance at this year's VMAs made me fall hard.

P.S. When I was younger I loved watching the VMAs. It was the best thing to look forward to since school had usually started right before.

Weekend Video

I've been listening to a lot of Surfer Blood this week and thought I'd share one of my favorite songs. Catholic Pagans is my all time favorite but they don't have a video for that one yet... I love how their quirky personalities come through in their videos.

Surfer Blood will be playing at the Getty later this month in their Saturdays Off The 405 series, if you happen to be in Los Angeles. Who ever came up with that idea is a genius; Best Coast played earlier in the summer too.

Have a great weekend!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Labor day is this Monday and since there's a heat wave in Los Angeles it still feels very much like summer. I've decided to make some delicious strawberry lemonade to cool off with this weekend. Here are a few things to enjoy over the long weekend...

few, cheap things to do if you're in Los Angeles.

I love the dress Sofia Coppola wore when she tied the knot last week.

I'd love to spruce up a lazy day with Rainbow Connection, one of OPI's new Muppet Collection.

A journey though the history of nail polish!

Get ready to feel old.

Sometimes my favorite part of A Softer World is the scroll-over text.

LA Times price hike (I can't believe it was that cheap to begin with!)

Enjoy your long weekend (if you're lucky enough get one)!

Organizing

Things Organized Neatly is one of my favorite tumblrs around. Don't you just love this image from Ursus Wehrli's new book, The Art of The Clean Up?

P.S. His hilarious TED talk

Temptation of the Week

Ever since Joanna Goddard posted a giveaway from Curator last week, I've been eyeing their adorable Charlotte Trench.

It even has my name in it, that means I NEED it right??

The New Yorker

This New Yorker article, titled The Zagat History of My Last Relationship, made me laugh at work when I read it and also reminded me of this hilarious New Yorker iPad app video featuring Jason Schwartzman.

How could you not love the guy?

First of the Month

A new month, a new season, a new chance.

To me, the first day of the month brings so much promise. I get most excited about the first because it means a new budget starts on mint.com. As I try to get my finance ducks in a row, mint has definitely helped me put a "check" on myself.

A huge inspiration to me is Anna Newell from And Then She Saved. I mean, she paid off over $26,000 in debt in 16 months! How's that for some inspiration?

So here we are: September, Fall, $0 spent.
